Evaluation

Our film follwed the rules and conventions of the film the Blair witch project. A key convention used in our film was the use of camera shots. This created a mood in particular scenes, for example there was a scene were the camera was placed behind the bush to create tension and makes it seem as if the characters were being watched. Many close up shots were used to show characters emotions .

An institution that I feel will distribute my film is the Haxan films production company . I would distribute my film here as they distributed the independent horror 'The blair witch project' and it is similar to mine.

The audience for our film would be aimed at teenagers between the ages of 13-18 this is because the characters in the film are teenagers and they would be able to relate to them more. The film attracts our target audience by the the way it was made realistic by making it a normal college day and a normal walk home.

While filming there were a few things that did not go well. First of all, my group had to change one of the actors that we were going to use in our film as he was not available when we needed him. This was a problem as we had to then start our film again due to the fact we were using a different actor. We found this very time consuming.

Another problem that came about is that when filming I did not contribute as much as the other members of my group as I could not act as good as other members of my group so I was not in the film, and I was not perfect behind the camera, but this helped me develop my skills in filming as members of my group helped me to understand more about filming.

Another problem we had is that we did not follow our entire script as some of our characters found it hard to learn their lines.

Although we had some problems, things also worked well such as the variety of camera shots we used in our film and the outcome of our whole film.Doing our pleniminary task was very beneficial as it helped me to understand how to film and how to edit. The task was a very helpful in helping me understand what making and editing a film would be like.

If I could change things if possible I would change the fact that we filmed a horror film in daylight, this had a big effect on our film as it makes it less realistic but also unique as most horrors are during the dark.

I would also change the fact that we did not use alot of props such as fake blood or costumes, I think this would have made our film more scary. Lastly I would have like to change the amount of time we used on planning I believe that if we spent more time on planning we would have had a better film.

I beleive that our production went well despite all the problems we came across. I think we produce a good piece of coursework as it was enjoyable and also helped me gain more knowlede about media.

In conlcusion our audience feedback was positive. We were complimented on our use of camera shots, and our story-line as it was not common. We were told our film was really good. Although it was a horror people found it funny due to the characters screaming.

Final day of editing

Today was a very good day as my group finished editing our film. We added extra parts such as non-digetic sound to set the mood. We added finishing touches such as starting credits and our opening sequence which we got from the blair witch project. I think that our film turned out well , all the weeks of filming and editing finally paid off.

Editing

Today we had to film and re-do parts of the film again . Today I was behind the camera with another member of my group. I filmed the last scene where the two characters are running through a graveyard.we had a few problems as our characters were wearing different clothes and its was kind of obvious. After filming we noticed that our film did not meet the exam boards requirements,as it wasn't as long as 2 minutes, so we had to add on extra footage in order to get a good grade.

Editing

Today had a problem, a member of our group was sick so we never had access to his password, as the film was saved on his file , we could not do any editing and he also had the tape, because of this we had to use a new tape which our teacher gave to us to use temporarily until the member of our group recovered.

Editing

Today my group started editing our final film using the programme final cut. In the middle of editing we noticed that there was a scene in our film where we had people who shouldnt be in our film in there, this was a big problem as we could not cut them out , so we arranged in our group that on the following Thursday that we would re-film the scene apart from this our film was coming on well.
